Governor Urged to Fully Reopen New Hampshire as Human Side Of Crisis is Exposed
EAST DERRY, N.H.—A healthy son desperately wants to be with his mother as she lies in a hospital bed dying—not of Covid-19—but he is prohibited from visiting her. A business of the year now faces bankruptcy, and the owner may forever shut her doors. An autistic daughter is not getting needed therapy, possibly backsliding in her progress.
These are just a few of the many stories of real New Hampshire people, suffering not from Covid 19, but from the consequences of government overreach.
ReOpenNH today announces “Stories,” a new section on its Web site that lets Granite Staters explain the impact of the governor’s shutdown personally, located at https://reopennh.com/stories. ReopenNH is dedicated to urging a complete reopening of the New Hampshire economy without further delay.
“The lives of our friends, families, and neighbors are being dreadfully impacted by the continuation of the arbitrary shutdown of the New Hampshire economy and the governor’s unconstitutional stay-at-home orders,” said Andrew J. Manuse, chairman of ReOpenNH. “Our website has now dedicated an entire set of pages to sharing the heartache being experienced by Granite Staters right now.”
“The governor is expected to announce his top-down reopen approach on Friday, and anything short of completely reopening the state is not going to work for the people,” Manuse said.
As the organization has said in previous publications, the free market is fully capable of solving the problems facing society. People with their own ingenuity and effort can better meet the needs of those around them than some government task force or centralized authority figure.
“There is still a way to protect the most vulnerable people in the state while allowing the 99 percent of people, who will most likely see minimal impact from the virus, to conduct their lives as normal,” said JR Hoell, treasurer of ReOpenNH. “Concentrating all of our efforts on protecting the elderly and high-risk individuals is the right first step. Allowing everyone else to return to their regular way of life has now become essential.”
“Individuals and their families would still be dreadfully impacted by any limited reopening of the state,” Hoell continued. “New Hampshire has a very limited season for many businesses, and we are rapidly approaching that season. Our new Stories section shows the real harm and personal impact to Granite Staters by the continuation of arbitrary restrictions and rules, and this harm will continue as long as there are such rules in place.”
